When one is planning a trip to Bali for the first time, the options can be a bit too much. Private villas, apartments, homestays, Airbnb, hotels, hostels…you name it.
In our case, we started looking for private villas because of our lifestyle and our necessity as full-time travellers to feel “at home”. We found these two vibrant villas, part of the same owners: Boho Binging Beach and Boho Hills Bali, both similar in many ways but also different to the core.
This property is situated in the surfer’s paradise Uluwatu, really close to the main beach and within 20 min away from our favourite beaches in the area: Nyang Nyang Beach, Gunung Payung & Thomas Beach, all of them white sandy beaches and not well known by tourists. Also this coast has the most amazing sunsets. Exactly as we like it.
The place itself is an Asian sophisticated gem with a mix of styles mainly Balinese but also, Javanese, Thai, Sri-Lankan, Burmese, etc.
One first thing I would like to highlight is the staff. Balinese are well known for their hospitality and smiles but honestly, people working here are something else, always happy to help and giving you the best tips and advice to get around.
The second and most important as environmentalist is the way this property is conducted in terms of energy saving featuring a massive rainwater reservoir, solar power, desalination plant, low-wattage air conditioners and 100% LED lighting. Epic!
They offer activities such as surf classes for all levels, traditional Balinese dancing classes, Balinese massage, Yoga, composting classes, etc.
Rooms are big and super comfy with amazing private bathrooms and all including AC, minibar, Wi-Fi and security box. The range goes from standard double room and 2-3 bedroom options with ocean views, more privacy, a kitchen and in general with a bohemian luxury touch.
The part I enjoyed the most was having breakfast and lunch by the infinite swimming pools and Jacuzzi and reading in the early afternoon, when it’s still too hot, in their amazing library. You know me by know.
Food is quite good, but I’ve heard they’ve changed the chef and the menu for a more elaborated one. I can’t wait to go back for a taste!
Here is where our hearts really got stolen.
When we changed from Boho Beach to Hills we were a bit sceptical about the upgrade purely because of the location, as this villa is a bit further out from the beach and has a more bumpy 5 min access from the main road.
But hey, when we first crossed the entrance we completely fell in love! That elegancy, that bohemian style, white washed colors and recyclable materials with that infinite pool facing the jungle, kept us in awe.
The villa has an open plan design with 6 rooms and can be rented as a whole, perfect for groups or per room.
Every room has again AC, WI-FI & private bathroom, facing the jungle, the swimming pool or both.
So what did we like the most here? The privacy, of course but also the finest details. Can you imagine a wave shaped bathtub, intricate doors made of coconut wood and a chandelier made of recycle shells?!
This is a smaller villa with less rooms and 2 open living areas, one by the fully equipped kitchen, the other upstairs with a high bar table perfect for a party and a TV lounge surrounded by greenery.
Talking about greenery, we were quite impressed by the hanging garden presiding the property. I could relax on the daybed underneath forever.
We were also thrilled by the splendid breakfast served in the morning with milk, organic granola, toasts with home-made jam and fresh seasonal fruit. Yum!!!
Overall, our stay at both properties was one-of-a-kind with exquisite treatment.
Bohemian Hotels Bali we will come back for you soon!
